Indonesia’s PIHPS reports mixed food price changes for July 2026

The Pusat Informasi Harga Pangan Strategis (PIHPS) released nationwide commodity prices for the weekend of 18 July 2026. Rice prices rose modestly – the lowest‑grade variety increased 0.34 % to Rp 14 750 /kg, while medium‑grade rice was unchanged. The sharpest gain was in green bird’s‑eye chilies, which jumped 5.26 % to Rp 53 000 /kg. Fresh chicken meat rose 3.92 % to Rp 38 450 /kg and eggs rose 1.21 % to Rp 29 300 /kg. Oil‑cooked and packaged cooking oil also edged higher. In contrast, onion and garlic prices fell: red onion down 4.05 % to Rp 43 800 /kg and garlic down 1.8 % to Rp 43 750 /kg. Regional data for Gorontalo showed higher prices for red and white onion, cooking oil and eggs compared with the national average, while chilies, rice and meat were slightly cheaper.

These movements reflect fluctuating supply‑demand dynamics and are monitored by Bank Indonesia as part of its effort to track inflationary pressures on Indonesian consumers.
