Oiltek exceeds national waste oil collection targets in North Macedonia
Oiltek, a collective of competing companies importing and distributing oils in the Macedonian market, has exceeded national waste oil collection targets. In 2025, the group collected over 450 tons of waste oil, achieving a collection rate of 28%, which is significantly higher than the national target of 15%.
So far this year, approximately 430 tons have been collected through August, nearly matching the total collected in the previous year. The organization is focusing on transitioning waste oil from an environmental risk into a usable resource by investing in modern domestic processing and recycling equipment. This strategy aims to increase local treatment capacities and reduce the need to export waste oil for treatment abroad.
Borche Kuzmanovski, manager of Oiltek, stated that the goal is to build a fully functional system encompassing collection, safe storage, and domestic reprocessing rather than merely meeting legal obligations.
