Typhoon 31 approaches Ogasawara Islands with high intensity

Typhoon 31, also known as Infa, is moving west-northwest near the Marshall Islands. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the typhoon is maintaining very strong intensity, with a central pressure of 970hPa and maximum wind speeds reaching 40m/s. It is expected to reach the waters near the Ogasawara Islands between October 31 and November 1, potentially strengthening further with a projected central pressure of 940hPa.

In other weather developments, recent rainfall caused by extratropical cyclones and seasonal fronts led to localized flooding in Fukuoka Prefecture, including stalled vehicles in Kitakyushu. While the rain provided some relief to drought-stricken areas like the Egawa Dam, reservoir levels remain critically low. Meanwhile, a cold front is expected to bring dropping temperatures and snow to parts of Hokkaido and northern Tohoku later this week.
