OJK strengthens financial literacy programs in South and West Sulawesi

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) is intensifying efforts to improve financial literacy and inclusion across several regions in Indonesia, including Bantaeng, Jeneponto, and Pasangkayu.

In Bantaeng, OJK launched the National Smart Financial Movement (GENCARKAN) to educate the public on prudent financial management and the dangers of illegal investments. Officials emphasized that literacy serves as a foundation for making wise decisions, managing income and expenses, and recognizing fraudulent investment schemes that promise unrealistic returns.

In South and West Sulawesi, OJK is focusing on coastal communities and micro-entrepreneurs through the Inclusive Financial Ecosystem (EKI) and the Red and White Fisherman Village (KNMP) programs. The initiative aims to ensure that access to digital transactions, financing, and bank accounts is accompanied by the necessary skills to manage fluctuating incomes, such as those experienced by fishermen, and to assess the risks of various financial products.
