Kelowna arena management dispute and Okanagan College housing opening
The GSL Group, current operator of Prospera Place, is calling on the City of Kelowna to disclose the details of competitive bids regarding the arena’s future management. The city previously announced it would not renew its contract with GSL, instead opting for a deal with the American-based Oak View Group Canada.
GSL Group President and CEO Graham Lee has urged transparency ahead of the 2026 municipal election, questioning why the city selected a bid directed by American executives. GSL noted its long-standing history with the facility, having contributed significantly to its original capital in 1999 and reinvesting approximately $17 million into the area over its tenure.
Separately, Okanagan College has officially opened a new $24 million student housing development at its Penticton campus. The facility provides 89 units and 101 beds, offering various configurations including studios and multi-bedroom options. The project, completed in conjunction with the B.C. government, aims to support students in trades, healthcare, and traditional academic programs with year-round living arrangements.
