Oktoberfest sees 5.2 million visitors, up 700,000 from last year

The Munich Oktoberfest is experiencing a significant surge in attendance, with mobile data analysis from Telefónica Deutschland and Invenium Data Insights showing 5.2 million visitors through Wednesday. This represents an increase of approximately 700,000 people compared to the same period last year, a trend attributed largely to favorable weather.

If current trends continue, total attendance could approach the seven million mark, though it remains below the 2023 record of 7.2 million. Data indicates a growing international presence, with foreign guests making up roughly 31 percent of the crowd—a six-percentage-point increase from two years ago. The largest international group consists of Americans, followed by Italians.

The demographic profile of the festival has also shifted, with an average age of 46. The largest visitor group is aged 50 to 59, while the 18 to 29 age bracket has seen a decline in participation. Due to the high volume of guests, some main entrances to the Theresienwiese were temporarily closed to manage the crowds.
