Olavarría City Council approves tax exemptions for small merchants and retirees

The Honorable City Council of Olavarría (Argentina) unanimously approved two key ordinances aimed at reducing municipal fees. The first ordinance grants a 100 % exemption on the Security and Hygiene Inspection tax (TISH) for small merchants classified under the fixed‑category regime, covering the months of August, September and October 2026, with the possibility of a three‑month extension if local and national socioeconomic indicators remain adverse.

The second ordinance reformulates the Urban Services tax exemption for retirees and pensioners. It relaxes the previous income ceiling of two minimum pensions, allowing exemptions for those whose income slightly exceeds the limit provided a verified social‑economic vulnerability assessment is presented. The measure currently benefits 194 retirees, reducing municipal revenue by an estimated 60 million Argentine pesos. Both measures were passed unanimously, and a separate resolution called for urgent street‑lighting upgrades in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood.
