Olavarría municipal tax relief measures
Entities: Municipality of Olavarría · María Eugenia Bezzoni
Overview
In early July 2026, the Olavarría City Council approved tax exemptions aimed at small merchants and retirees, signaling the municipality’s first step toward easing the fiscal burden on vulnerable groups.
By early August 2026, the municipal government expanded its relief effort with a comprehensive Tax Payment Facilitation Plan. The scheme offers steep interest waivers—100 % for debts due by the end of 2025 and 70 % for debts incurred in the first half of 2026—and tiered discounts for installment payments. The plan targets the AR$13.5 billion in unpaid taxes and fees, roughly 10 % of the city’s annual budget, and seeks to improve the declining collection rate of the Urban Services Tax. It also addresses arrears from quarry exploitation fees, which account for about AR$1 billion of the debt.
