Olavarría Human Milk Center completes first delivery to La Plata
The Olavarría Human Milk Collection Center has completed its first delivery to the Human Milk Bank at Hospital San Martín in La Plata. The initial donation consisted of 2,608 milliliters of breast milk, provided by three mothers and distributed across more than 15 containers.
The collected milk undergoes analysis, classification, and pasteurization at the provincial facility. Once processed, it is distributed to neonatology patients, including newborns and premature infants, based on specific medical prescriptions from neonatologists.
With this initiative, the Municipality of Olavarría has joined the Province of Buenos Aires Network of Human Milk Banks and Collection Centers, operating under Provincial Law No. 14,787. Health officials emphasized that human milk provides essential nutrients and defenses for infants, particularly those born prematurely.
