Zelenskyy signals openness to freezing conflict amid peace talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed a willingness to freeze current front lines as a preliminary step toward a ceasefire and renewed peace negotiations. In recent diplomatic developments, Zelenskyy participated in talks in Oslo with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and European leaders. A trilateral meeting involving Ukraine, Russia, and the United States is tentatively planned for November to restart stalled peace processes.

Zelenskyy emphasized that any agreement must include robust security guarantees from the United States and European allies to prevent future Russian offensives. He stated that Ukraine will not negotiate on its neutrality or limits to its military size. While technical groups may handle specific issues, Zelenskyy designated territorial matters as a “red line” that can only be discussed at the leadership level.

In a separate humanitarian development, Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a localized ceasefire in Oleshky, located in the Kherson region. Scheduled to begin on October 27, the truce aims to facilitate the delivery of essential supplies and the safe evacuation of civilians from the Russian-occupied area.
