Oleshky residents face hunger and drone strikes under Russian occupation
Residents of Oleshky, a town in the Russian-occupied Kherson region of Ukraine, continue to face severe humanitarian challenges, including hunger, landmines, and drone strikes. The town's remaining 2,000 residents have lived for approximately two and a half years without essential services such as electricity, running water, natural gas, or healthcare.
In March, a Russian drone strike targeted a bread line in the town, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. One victim, 63-year-old Serhiy Gulyaev, died in a hospital after an initial attempt to transport him to medical care was thwarted when an ambulance struck a landmine. The situation highlights the ongoing dangers faced by civilians remaining in occupied territories.
