Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha has issued an urgent appeal to the international community regarding a severe humanitarian crisis in the occupied city of Olesky, located in the Kherson region. Sybiha reported that the civilian population is struggling for survival, with many forced to consume grass and weeds due to extreme food shortages. Access to essential resources, including clean water, electricity, medicine, and medical assistance, is described as nearly non-existent.

Sybiha held Russia responsible for the escalating crisis and called upon international bodies such as the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross to use their mandates to facilitate humanitarian aid and secure a safe evacuation for residents. The city's population has reportedly plummeted from a pre-war level of approximately 24,000 to roughly 2,000 people, including about 50 children.

In response, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov acknowledged that the situation in Olesky is critical but accused Ukraine of obstructing the delivery of aid to the city. Ukrainian officials have noted that efforts to organize evacuations are being hindered by the presence of drones and mined roads.
