Olguța Vasilescu and Claudiu Manda Shown as Leaders of Romania's PSD

Mayor of Buzău Constantin Toma stated that the Social Democratic Party (PSD) is effectively controlled by vice‑president Olguța Vasilescu and her husband, party secretary‑general Claudiu Manda, rather than by party president Sorin Grindeanu. He emphasized that "the most listened‑to voice in PSD is Olguța Vasilescu" and described the couple as the real decision‑makers.

Toma linked this power structure to a recent dispute with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan over financing for the Electrocentrale Craiova plant, noting that Olguța had demanded Bolojan's resignation. He added that the Oltenia region, where the couple is influential, represents a strong faction within the PSD.
