Olive oil prices fluctuate across Italy and Spain

Olive oil prices are experiencing significant fluctuations across major Mediterranean producers. In Italy, the national average price at the origin fell to 5.12 euros per kilogram in July 2026, representing a 15.2% decrease from June and a 46.7% drop compared to July 2025. While prices at the origin and wholesale levels have seen substantial annual declines, the impact on retail prices has been less pronounced, with retail prices showing a slight increase of 0.5% between March and April 2026.

In Spain, the world's leading exporter of olive oil, market prices remain a critical economic indicator. As of September 8, 2026, regional data shows extra virgin olive oil prices ranging between 3.35 and 3.425 euros per kilogram depending on the source, such as Infaoliva or the Almazaras Federadas de Córdoba. The Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food emphasizes that olive oil is a fundamental pillar of the national agri-food system and the country's third most exported agri-food product.
