Oliveira do Hospital acquires two new electric buses

The municipality of Oliveira do Hospital has acquired two new 100% electric buses to reinforce its municipal transport fleet. Each vehicle has a capacity of 39 passengers, representing a total investment of approximately 898,000 euros.

Part of the funding includes 450,000 euros provided by the Environmental Fund through the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). The project also involves the installation of a dedicated electric charging station costing over 45,000 euros.

The initiative aims to decarbonize the municipal fleet used for school transport, replace older combustion engine vehicles, reduce operational and fuel costs, and minimize CO2 emissions and noise pollution near schools and local communities. The municipality is progressively renewing its light vehicle fleet with zero-emission solutions, which currently includes several electric passenger and utility vehicles.
