Olivia Wilde expands career as actress and director

Olivia Wilde is experiencing a highly active period in her career as both an actress and a director. Her recent directorial work includes the marital comedy ‘The Invite’, which was acquired by A24 following a high-profile bidding war at the Sundance Film Festival.

On the acting front, Wilde starred in Gregg Araki’s ‘I Want Your Sex’, which premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. She also has a supporting role in ‘Behemoth!’, directed by Tony Gilroy, which served as a centerpiece selection at the 2026 New York Film Festival. Her performance in the film has drawn attention from awards season observers.

Critics have noted a thematic throughline in Wilde’s directorial projects, such as ‘Booksmart’ and ‘Don’t Worry Darling’, often focusing on characters, particularly women, attempting to break free from societal or patriarchal confinements.
