Olomouc region faces up to 35 °C heatwave, health officials warn of risks

A strong heat wave is set to hit the Olomouc region of the Czech Republic, with temperatures expected to rise to as high as 35 °C on Saturday. Meteorologists attribute the surge to a high‑pressure system drawing warm air from southern Europe.

Health authorities warn that prolonged exposure could cause dehydration, heat exhaustion, heatstroke and other heat‑related illnesses, especially among children, seniors and people with cardiovascular conditions. The UV index will be very high, and officials advise staying in shade, drinking plenty of water, using sunscreen, wearing hats and limiting outdoor activity between noon and 3 p.m. A brief cooling spell with possible showers may arrive on Sunday evening.
