Olympiacos agrees €19‑million transfer of Andre Luis to Kansas City
Olympiacos FC has reached an agreement to transfer 25‑year‑old Brazilian winger André Luis to Major League Soccer side Sporting Kansas City. The deal is reported to total between €19 million and €22 million, comprising a guaranteed fee of €16 million (or €18‑19 million according to some reports) plus performance‑related bonuses that could raise the amount to about €19.5 million.
The transfer will be one of the most expensive in MLS history – the third‑most costly – and also ranks among the largest sales ever recorded by Olympiacos. Luis is set to sign a five‑year contract with the US club and is expected to join after completing negotiations that lasted roughly two months. The Greek club’s sporting director José Luis Mendilibar noted that the transfer window remains open, allowing further squad adjustments before the new season begins.
This move marks a significant step in Luis’s career, moving from the Greek Super League to the United States after previously playing in Brazil, Portugal and for Olympiacos, where he made ten appearances without scoring.
