Kostas Papanikolaou extends Olympiacos contract to 2028

Olympiacos announced that club captain Kostas Papanikolaou has signed a new two‑year contract, keeping him with the Greek basketball powerhouse until the summer of 2028. The 36‑year‑old forward‑centre, a three‑time EuroLeague champion (2012, 2013, 2026) and six‑time Greek League winner, was described by the club as “more than a captain”, a reference point for the team and a symbol of its values and ambition. The statement highlighted his leadership, professionalism and the mutual trust that underpins the renewed partnership.

The extension follows Papanikolaou’s long‑term association with Olympiacos – first from 2009‑13, a brief spell abroad, and again from 2016 onward – during which he helped the side dominate domestic competitions and achieve European success. The club expects his experience and on‑court influence to contribute to the squad’s goal of defending its EuroLeague title and remaining competitive in the upcoming season.
