Olympiacos marks 1976 basketball cup triumph as it pursues football signing of Gioel Roca

On July 12, 1976 Olympiacos won the inaugural Greek Men's Basketball Cup, defeating AEK 81‑69 in Glyfada. The victory inaugurated a competition that has become a cornerstone of Greek basketball, establishing Olympiacos as an early powerhouse in the sport.

In the 2024‑25 season the club is reported to be close to completing the transfer of 21‑year‑old Spanish forward Gioel Roca. The winger, a former Zaragoza loanee, recorded six goals and three assists in 43 appearances across all competitions last season and has featured for Spain’s U21 side. Olympiacos hopes Roca will boost its attacking options for the upcoming Greek league campaign.
