Olympiacos’ New Karaiskakis Stadium Plans Approved by Piraeus Council
On 22 June 2026 the Piraeus Municipal Council unanimously approved the architectural and engineering plans presented by Olympiacos FC for a new Georgios Karaiskakis stadium. The design calls for a capacity of more than 50,000 spectators and a taller, larger‑scale structure than the current arena.
The club will fund the project, estimating a minimum of €250 million, meaning no direct burden on the Greek state budget or taxpayers. The proposal also seeks a modification of local zoning limits to permit the increased height and capacity. The stadium is part of a broader redevelopment of the Falirou waterfront area, aiming to create a modern, multi‑purpose venue that can host major sporting events, cultural shows and entertainment programs, and to improve traffic and visitor flow in the district.
