Olympic bid campaigns intensify in Hamburg and Rhine-Ruhr ahead of referendums

In Hamburg, supporters of the Olympic bid mobilize ahead of the postal referendum, with the initiative 'OlympJA' organizing a rally at Jungfernstieg on April 24 featuring music, sport and clubs. The event is presented as a visible show of support for the bid amid a counter-movement opposing the effort.

In Cologne and the broader Rhine-Ruhr area, the deadline for the Olympia referendum has arrived. Voters in Cologne and 16 other Rhine-Ruhr municipalities can vote until Sunday in what is described as the region’s first city-level referendum, with participation extending across multiple municipalities.

In Hamburg, a second referendum-related event is planned for May 31, when residents will vote on the Olympic bid. The 'OlympJA' initiative again invites a rally featuring good humor, sports activities and music to urge a yes vote.
