Uttar Pradesh leaders target Akhilesh Yadav ahead of 2027 elections

Political tensions in Uttar Pradesh have escalated ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, with multiple leaders targeting Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav.

Following Yadav’s ‘chavanni’ (25 paise) remark regarding political allies, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and leaders from the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) accused him of insulting the Jat community. BJP spokespersons demanded a public apology, claiming the comments disparaged RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary and his lineage.

Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) President Om Prakash Rajbhar and General Secretary Arvind Rajbhar also launched sharp attacks. Rajbhar urged Yadav to focus on saving the SP rather than dreaming of power in 2027, while Arvind Rajbhar compared Yadav’s role in alliances to ‘Bhasmasura,’ suggesting he tends to destroy the very parties he joins.

Additionally, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticized the SP, alleging the party neglects the poor and prioritizes family interests. He claimed the public would ‘cleanse’ the SP in the upcoming elections, contrasting his administration’s welfare schemes with the previous SP tenure.
