Oman and Saudi Arabia urge political solution for Yemen

During the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Oman and Saudi Arabia emphasized the necessity of a political solution to the crisis in Yemen to ensure the country's unity, stability, and territorial integrity.

Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi called for effective cooperation among Yemeni parties to reach a just settlement that protects the rights and dignity of the Yemeni people. He also warned that regional escalations could threaten maritime navigation and global energy security, stressing Oman's commitment to safeguarding navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan highlighted the Kingdom's role as a leading donor, noting that Saudi Arabia has provided over $29 billion in humanitarian and developmental aid to Yemen. He condemned Houthi militia attacks on commercial vessels and called for international cooperation to protect freedom of navigation in vital waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz, Bab al-Mandab, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden. The Saudi delegation stressed that the security of the Arabian Gulf is essential to global energy security and international trade stability.
