Omar al-Bayoumi: New evidence links Saudi national to 9/11 hijackers
Newly released footage and testimony have brought renewed attention to Omar al-Bayoumi, a Saudi national at the center of a massive lawsuit filed by families of the September 11 victims against Saudi Arabia. The lawsuit seeks approximately $1 trillion in damages, alleging the kingdom's involvement in the attacks.
Footage obtained by the BBC shows al-Bayoumi socializing with Anwar al-Awlaki, a future Al Qaeda leader, and interacting with Saudi officials. These recordings, which the FBI reportedly possessed shortly after the attacks, contradict al-Bayoumi’s long-standing claims that he was merely a student with no ties to extremists.
Additionally, Holly Ratchford, a former apartment manager in San Diego, has spoken out about her role in renting housing to al-Bayoumi and two hijackers, Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar. Ratchford described al-Bayoumi as a friendly neighbor who appeared to be a regular member of the community. Saudi authorities continue to deny all allegations of complicity in the terrorist attacks.
