Midwest Poultry and Oma's Pride issue major Salmonella-related recalls
Two major food recalls have been issued in the United States due to potential Salmonella contamination.
Midwest Poultry Services has recalled approximately 1.6 million dozen eggs, including white shell and brown cage-free varieties. The eggs were produced at two Texas farms between June 6 and July 3, 2026, with best-by dates ranging from July 20 to August 17, 2026. The FDA has upgraded this to a Class I recall, the highest risk level, due to the potential for serious illness or death. The recall is linked to a Salmonella Enteritidis outbreak that has sickened 98 people across 17 states, with 26 hospitalizations reported.
Separately, Miller Foods, Inc. is voluntarily recalling a specific lot of Oma's Pride Woof Complete Canine Chicken Recipe frozen raw dog food. The recall involves 639 6-pound bags (Lot BB012729) distributed across 11 states, including California, New York, and Virginia. The recall follows a consumer complaint and FDA testing that confirmed Salmonella presence. Three human illnesses have been reported in connection with this product. Authorities warn that both pets and humans who handle the contaminated food are at risk of infection.
