Omo-Agege alleges life threats from Delta State Government

Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has alleged that his life and the lives of his family members are under threat from the Delta State Government House in Asaba. While launching his senatorial campaign for the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) in the Uvwie Local Government Area, Omo-Agege called on the international community, security agencies, and the media to take notice, stating that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori should be held accountable should any harm befall him or his family.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has dismissed these claims as “reckless, unfounded and politically motivated.” The party accused Omo-Agege of conducting a “campaign of calumny” against Governor Oborevwori to gain political relevance and public sympathy ahead of upcoming elections. The APC challenged the former senator to provide credible evidence of these threats to security agencies rather than making public statements.

The tension follows a political rivalry between the two figures dating back to the 2023 Delta State governorship election, where Oborevwori defeated Omo-Agege.
