Omoda reveals X crossover with off-road capabilities

Omoda has unveiled the Omoda X, a new crossover described as a ‘Mecha Cross’ that blends SUV practicality with off-road capabilities and sports car styling. The vehicle was revealed during the Omoda X Night event in Wuhu, China, as part of the Chery Group’s International User Summit.

The Omoda X features a ‘Mecha’ design language characterized by sharp geometric lines and a muscular stance. Technical highlights include a 200mm ground clearance, a wading depth exceeding 700mm, and a towing capacity of up to 1800kg. The interior, termed the ‘Mecha Starship Cockpit’, includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument display and a 13.2-inch media screen, alongside 39 storage spaces.

Advanced technology features include a thermal imaging system with a 90m recognition range, an ‘X Mode’ drive setting, and ‘Omoda Open Mic’ for in-car karaoke. The vehicle is positioned in the brand's lineup above the Omoda 7 and below a flagship model named the G. While the reveal has taken place, specific powertrain details, pricing, and market-specific release dates for regions such as Italy have not yet been announced.
