Omoda X concept unveiled with off-road capabilities
Omoda has introduced the Omoda X concept, a new vehicle categorized by the brand as a ‘Cross Off-Road Vehicle’ (COV). Unveiled at the Chery International User Summit 2026 in Wuhu, China, the concept aims to bridge the gap between urban crossovers and rugged off-roaders.
The vehicle features a ‘Cyber Mecha’ design language characterized by angular, geometric lines and a robust, futuristic aesthetic inspired by science fiction. Technical specifications highlighted include a 200 mm ground clearance, a water wading capacity of up to 700 mm, and a towing capacity of up to 1,800 kg. The interior is designed with 39 storage compartments and features a 13.2-inch touchscreen alongside a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
A notable technological addition is an infrared night vision system capable of detecting obstacles, people, or animals at a distance of up to 90 meters. While the concept is intended to signal a new design direction for the brand, official details regarding mass production and specific powertrain configurations—which may include BEV, PHEV, and HEV options—remain unconfirmed.
