OMV Petrom secures €47 million loan for first Romanian wind farm

OMV Petrom and its partner Renovatio obtained a €47 million investment loan from Banca Comercială Română (BCR) to finance the CEE Onești wind project in Gura Văii, Bacău County. The loan covers at least 60 % of the total project cost and funds the development, construction and operation of a wind farm with an installed capacity of about 50 MW, expected to generate roughly 110 GWh of electricity per year.

The project is one of several 300 MW wind developments announced by OMV Petrom and forms part of a broader renewable‑energy portfolio that the company aims to expand to over 2.5 GW of installed capacity by 2030. In 2024 OMV Petrom acquired a 50 % stake in Electrocentrale Borzești, the entity that holds the CEE Onești assets, and has already brought 70 MW of renewables into operation while 1 500 MW are under development.
