Ondo State officials arrest 30 residents for sanitation violations

At least 30 residents in Ondo State were arrested by environmental health officers during a monthly sanitation exercise on Saturday. The arrests occurred as part of a state-wide effort to enforce environmental hygiene and proper waste disposal regulations.

Samuel Bolala, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Environmental Health and Safety, stated that the arrested individuals will face prosecution before the state’s Special Environmental Court. The enforcement action is part of the governor’s ‘OUR EASE’ agenda, which aims to create a cleaner and healthier environment for residents.

Bolala emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness in markets, streets, and residential areas, urging citizens to make sanitation a daily habit rather than a monthly task. He also called for increased cooperation between government agencies, waste management authorities, and the public to ensure sustainable environmental health.
