One Magyarország to discontinue Földfelszíni TV service

One Magyarország has announced that it will discontinue its terrestrial television service, known as Földfelszíni TV, effective November 30. This service, which evolved from Antenna Hungária’s MinDig TV Extra and MinDig TV Prémium, was a paid subscription model utilizing DVB-T2 technology across three multiplexes.

The decision to phase out the service is attributed to business reasons. While the paid subscription model struggled to achieve mass popularity—peaking at just over 100,000 subscribers—the discontinuation will not affect free-to-air broadcasting. The 10 free channels available via the terrestrial network will remain accessible without a subscription after November 30.

The digital terrestrial network in Hungary has undergone significant technical evolution since 2008, involving substantial investments from both the state and private sectors. Following the acquisition of Antenna Hungária by the 4iG Group, the broadcasting network was eventually sold to Pro-M Zrt., leading to the eventual cessation of the One terrestrial TV service.
