One Nation surges in Newspoll, overtaking Labor in key states
Recent quarterly Newspoll data indicates a significant surge in support for Pauline Hanson’s One Nation party across Australia. Nationally, One Nation has reached a 30 per cent primary vote, placing it ahead of the Labor Party at 29 per cent and the Coalition at 19 per cent.
The party’s strength is particularly notable outside of its traditional base in Queensland. In New South Wales, One Nation recorded 31 per cent of the primary vote, narrowly surpassing Labor’s 30 per cent. In Western Australia and South Australia, the party trails Labor by only one percentage point, with 29 per cent and 31 per cent respectively. In Queensland, One Nation holds 36 per cent of the vote, while Labor has fallen to 25 per cent.
The polling also highlights a shift in leadership approval. Pauline Hanson recorded a net approval rating of plus-14 in Queensland, where she is the preferred prime minister over Anthony Albanese (52 per cent to 48 per cent). Conversely, Mr. Albanese’s net approval rating has seen a sharp decline, falling to minus-38 in Queensland.
