One Nation Tops Newspoll Primary Vote; PM Albanese's Approval Hits Record Low

A national Newspoll conducted from June 1‑4 gave One Nation 31% of the primary vote, edging ahead of Labor’s 30% and the Coalition’s 18%. The Greens received 11% and other parties 10%. This marks a record high for One Nation in Newspoll and the lowest primary‑vote share for Labor since 2011‑13.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s net approval fell seven points to –24, the worst rating recorded for him and a new low for any Australian prime minister in recent polling. Sixty percent of respondents expressed dissatisfaction, while 36% said they were satisfied. No two‑party‑preferred estimate was released, but analysts noted Labor would still lead under such a model.

A separate Queensland state poll showed the Liberal National Party maintaining a strong lead, while One Nation’s support rose to 24% in that state. Survey respondents indicated a desire for a major political shake‑up, with 61% saying change was overdue.
