Online toll payment launched for Romania‑Bulgaria Giurgiu‑Ruse bridge

Starting Monday, 15 June, drivers crossing the Giurgiu‑Ruse (Friendship) bridge can pay the 15 lei toll online through the eTarifGiurgiuPod web platform or the eTarifGiurgiuPod mobile app (available for Android and iOS). The system, announced by CNAIR director Cristian Pistol, requires payment at least three minutes before reaching the control zone.

Two of the eight lanes (numbers 3 and 4) are reserved for vehicles that have prepaid; the barrier lifts automatically, allowing a high‑speed flow. The remaining lanes continue to accept cash or card payments, and the reverse‑direction fee of €2 is paid to Bulgarian authorities. The e‑TGP system verifies vehicle registration plates to confirm payment before opening the barrier.
