Ono Surono urges moratorium on Ciroyom Market revitalization
Ono Surono, Vice Chairman of the West Java DPRD, has called for a moratorium on the Ciroyom Market revitalization project in Bandung. The request follows an audience with the Bandung City Alliance of Market Traders (APPSINDO).
Surono cited several unresolved issues, including disputed land rights and significant increases in stall prices. According to reports, prices rose from an initial socialization of approximately Rp12 million per square meter to as high as Rp35 million. He noted that small traders face extreme pressure to settle payments, sometimes as much as Rp175 million for a 5-meter stall, within a four-month window.
Additionally, allegations of criminal activity have surfaced involving a Perumda official who reportedly sold a kiosk to another party after a trader had already paid a down payment. The West Java DPRD intends to summon the Mayor of Bandung and relevant economic bureaus to address these concerns.
