Ontario police investigate residential break-ins and vehicle theft ring

Police in Ontario are investigating separate criminal incidents involving residential break-ins and high-end vehicle thefts.

In the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area, the Halton Regional Police Service arrested 25-year-old Darryl Davance of Saint Jerome, Quebec. He is facing 14 counts of motor vehicle theft and mischief following an investigation into a tactic where tracking devices were placed on Lexus and Toyota vehicles. Investigators say thieves hide small GPS or Bluetooth devices in locations such as wheel wells, bumpers, or behind license plates to monitor vehicles before stealing them in quiet areas.

Separately, the Waterloo Regional Police Service is seeking information regarding a break-and-enter investigation in the Deer Ridge neighbourhood of Kitchener. Authorities are looking for a white man in his forties seen photographing homes and yards, as well as a black BMW SUV spotted in the area on August 15.
