Ontario police seize suspected cocaine and meth in Highway 17 traffic stop
On June 24, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police’s Traffic Incident and Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle on Highway 17 west of North Bay after noticing an expired temporary licence plate. The stop uncovered unregistered plates, and police seized suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, a digital scale and about $2,400 in cash. Both occupants were arrested; the driver also faced drug‑impaired‑driving charges, received a 90‑day licence suspension and had the vehicle impounded for seven days.
The incident highlights ongoing OPP efforts to combat drug trafficking and impaired driving on provincial highways.
