Ontario Provincial Police charges individuals in break‑and‑enter theft and drug‑impaired driving incidents

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) announced two separate charges in recent criminal incidents.

In the Haliburton Highlands area, 34‑year‑old Joseph Bell of Algonquin Highlands was arrested on June 24, 2026 and charged with multiple counts of theft, possession of property obtained by crime, break‑and‑enter to a dwelling, operating a vehicle while prohibited and failing to comply with probation. Police recovered stolen items, including personal belongings, licence plates and a side‑by‑side vehicle valued at about $30,000. Bell remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

Separately, on June 25, 2026 near Highway 17 and the Highway 108 junction in the East Algoma region, the OPP stopped a blue vehicle after a traffic complaint. The driver, 34‑year‑old Brittaney Ann Jackson of St. Catherines, was found to be incoherent, failed drug‑recognition tests and was found with a bag of suspected drug residue. She was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs, and the vehicle was impounded. Jackson is scheduled to appear in court on September 3, 2026.
