Ontario Provincial Police make arrests for drug trafficking and stunt driving

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint in the village of Hastings, Trent Hills, on August 2, 2026. Police stopped a vehicle, seized suspected cocaine, fentanyl, other pills, a prohibited weapon, drug‑trafficking paraphernalia and cash, and arrested four individuals – Danielle Girard, Casey McNabb, Tyler Traynor and Matthew Mutton – on charges of cocaine trafficking, with Mutton also charged for possession of a weapon.

Later, on July 26, 2026, OPP officers from the North Bay detachment enforced traffic laws on Highway 17 east of Mattawa. Two pickup trucks were observed traveling at 146 km/h and 160 km/h in a 90 km/h zone. The drivers, a 67‑year‑old Timmins resident and a 43‑year‑old Sudbury resident, were charged with stunt driving, received immediate 30‑day licence suspensions, and had their vehicles impounded for 14 days. Both cases underscore OPP’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and dangerous driving in Ontario.
