Ontario reports multiple active wildfires across Northeast and Northwest regions
Ontario's Forest Fire and Emergency Services confirmed a series of active wildfires on May 27‑28. In the Northeast Region, one fire at Haliburton 8 (3 ha) remains not under control. In the Northwest Region, four fires are active: Thunder Bay 15 (0.4 ha, under control), Thunder Bay 16 (2.5 ha, not under control), Dryden 12 (0.6 ha, not under control) and Kenora 11 (0.1 ha, called out).
A separate update listed eleven new wildfires in the Northeast Region, including Haliburton 9 (1.9 ha, not under control), Sudbury 2 (15 ha, not under control) and several smaller fires that are under control or out. Authorities reminded the public to follow Ontario’s outdoor‑burning regulations and provided contact numbers for reporting fires.
