Ooni of Ife Blesses SWAGA Campaign, Calls for Peaceful Osun 2026 Election

Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the paramount traditional ruler of Ife, received the delegation of the South‑West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA) at the Ooni’s Palace in Ile‑Ife. He gave royal blessings to the group ahead of the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, praised the unity and peaceful stance of the campaign, and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s infrastructure, housing and empowerment programmes.

Later, the Ooni met with Independent National Electoral Commission Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan, urging the commission to conduct a free, fair and transparent poll. He called on all political actors and traditional rulers in Osun to rise above partisan battles, insisting they will not abandon the state to politicians and that the election must be peaceful and issue‑based.
