OPΕΚΑ announces voucher redistribution and income support updates
The Organization for Welfare Benefits and Social Solidarity (OPΕΚΑ) has announced several updates regarding social assistance programs in Greece.
Starting September 7, 2026, the organization will begin redistributing unused vouchers for social, medical, and excursion tourism, as well as theater tickets. This redistribution will be conducted at Citizens' Service Centers (KEP) on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies are exhausted. Eligible applicants include those who applied for the 2026 programs but were not selected in the initial lottery. However, those previously selected who failed to collect their vouchers by August 31, 2026, are ineligible.
Additionally, the digital platform for annual income support for families residing in mountainous and disadvantaged areas has been open since September 1. This assistance is available to families with at least one citizen from Greece, the EU, the EEA, or Switzerland, provided they have resided in these areas for at least two consecutive years. To qualify, the annual family income must not exceed €4,700. The support amount is €600 per year for families earning up to €3,000, and €300 per year for those earning between €3,000.01 and €4,700. Applications are submitted electronically via the gov.gr portal.
