Opava and Ostrava undergo urban developments and infrastructure projects
In Opava, the second stage of the demolition of the former Slezanka shopping center has begun. The project, managed by METOSA GROUP at a cost of approximately 14 million CZK, involves removing the remaining low-rise section of the building on the south side of Horní náměstí. The work is expected to be completed by the end of November. To protect neighboring structures and minimize traffic disruption, the demolition will utilize heavy machinery and hydraulic shears rather than explosives.
Following the demolition, the city plans to hold an architectural and urban competition to determine the future use of the area, which may include new residential buildings, services, cultural spaces, and underground parking.
Meanwhile, in Ostrava, a new indoor shooting range facility has opened in the Hulvákas district. Built on a former brownfield site, the 153 million CZK project was developed by VÍTKOVICE ARÉNA. The facility includes three separate ranges designed for sports clubs and the public, featuring both underground and above-ground sections to accommodate small arms, gas weapons, and firearms.
