Opel signs Mitch Evans for Formula E debut season

Opel has officially announced that Mitch Evans will lead its debut Formula E team for the 2026/27 season. Evans, a New Zealander and the most successful driver in the series' history with 16 victories, joins the German manufacturer following a ten-year tenure with Jaguar.

Evans will partner with French driver Théo Pourchaire, the 2023 Formula 2 champion, as the team enters the championship during the introduction of the GEN4 era. The new generation of cars will feature all-wheel drive and increased power.

Jörg Schrott, Opel Motorsport Director and Team Principal, described the pairing as a ‘dream team’ and emphasized that the project is designed to compete for wins immediately rather than just participating. Evans stated that the transition to GEN4 machinery provides the ideal opportunity for a new challenge as he seeks his first world championship title.
