Opel introduces affordable Astra Start trim
Opel has introduced a new entry-level trim called ‘Start’ for the Astra model line, including the Sports Tourer station wagon. This move is part of a broader pricing strategy within the Stellantis group aimed at making the compact car more accessible to a wider range of customers.
The Start trim offers several powertrain options. Customers can choose a 1.2-liter three-cylinder mild hybrid petrol engine, a 1.5-liter diesel engine, or a fully electric version. The electric model features a 156 hp motor and a 58 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 454 km under the WLTP cycle. The plug-in hybrid powertrain is not available with this specific trim.
Standard features for the Start configuration include six-way adjustable Intelli-Seat front seats, automatic climate control, Keyless Start, and 10-inch digital instrumentation and infotainment screens. Pricing varies by region and engine; in Germany, the trim is approximately 1,600 to 2,000 euros cheaper than the previous ‘Edition’ entry package. In Italy, the mild hybrid version starts at 32,450 euros.
