Open Cosmos to expand satellite production and workforce in Greece

Open Cosmos has announced an ambitious expansion plan in Greece following a recent €300 million funding round. The company aims to scale its manufacturing capabilities, with a goal of producing one satellite per day.

The expansion includes the development of new 4,000 square meter production facilities and office spaces. Open Cosmos plans to significantly increase its Greek workforce, aiming to grow its staff from approximately 40 employees to more than 300 by 2030.

This move follows the successful launch of the Hyperion GR-1, the first of seven satellites developed under the National Micro-satellite Program. The expansion is part of a broader European strategy to enable mass satellite production and provide services in areas such as secure connectivity, Earth observation, and data analytics. The funding round included participation from Greek investment schemes Sustainable Forward Capital (SFC) and Ireon Ventures, alongside international investors like ETF Partners and Endeavor Catalyst Fund.
