OpenGov.gr upgraded with AI tools for public consultation

Greece has launched an upgraded version of OpenGov.gr, the nation's central digital portal for public consultation on new legislation and government initiatives. The upgrade was implemented by the Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence, in collaboration with the Presidency of the Government.

The new platform offers citizens several enhanced features, including the ability to participate via email or through Taxisnet credentials for a more personalized experience. Users can view bills in a structured format, comment on specific articles, and follow specific public entities such as ministries or local authorities to receive automated email updates on new consultations.

A significant addition to the platform is the integration of Artificial Intelligence to analyze, group, and code the large volumes of comments submitted by the public. This technology is intended to streamline the processing of feedback during the legislative process. Additionally, consultation data is now available through an Open API to promote transparency and support research by developers and the public.
