OpenLogi emerges as open-source alternative to Logitech software

OpenLogi, a new open-source alternative to Logitech’s Logi Options+ software, has gained significant traction on GitHub. Developed in Rust by AprilNEA, the project aims to provide a lightweight, privacy-focused way to manage Logitech peripherals without requiring a user account or cloud connectivity.

Unlike the official software, which often requires a Logi ID and cloud-based services, OpenLogi communicates directly with devices via the HID++ protocol. This allows users to manage button assignments, DPI sensitivity, and SmartShift settings locally. Configuration data is stored in readable TOML files rather than being tied to a manufacturer's account.

The software is compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux, offering Linux support that the official Logitech utility lacks. It works with various connection methods, including Bluetooth, USB, and Logitech’s Bolt or Unifying receivers. While still in early development, the project has seen rapid growth, reaching nearly 10,000 stars on GitHub.
