Opole: DK46 expansion to add second carriageway to A4 junction
The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) in Opole has initiated a tender for the expansion of National Road 46 (DK46). The project involves constructing a second carriageway over a 6.6 km stretch from the Opole city border through the Dąbrowa commune to the Opole Zachód junction on the A4 motorway.
Key infrastructure improvements include the construction of a second parallel viaduct over railway tracks in Dąbrowa, new viaducts over the intersections of Ciepielowicka and Sztonyka streets, and the creation of a roundabout in Dąbrowa. The project also features reconstructed intersections, pedestrian and bicycle paths, acoustic screens, street lighting, and drainage systems. Additionally, utility networks including energy, telecommunications, water, and sewage will be rebuilt.
The expansion aims to improve transit flow between Opole and the A4 motorway, particularly supporting industrial areas where companies such as Ascend Elements and Kumho Tire are planning to establish facilities. The construction is planned for the years 2028–2030.
